Kundalini Yoga & Meditation

No words can replace your experience

In Kundalini Yoga the most important thing is your experience. It goes straight to your heart. Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan, is an ancient & powerful style of yoga. Known as the Yoga of Awareness – the word ‘kundalini’ refers to our potential. The practice of Kundalini yoga is both a science & a technology for all aspects of human living based on the understanding; our true strength comes from within.

It involves a dynamic blend of physical postures, breathing techniques, meditation, mantra & relaxation. Kundalini Yoga can be practiced by anyone regardless of age, fitness or experience. Each class is unique, in that the ‘yoga set’ will be different but the structure of the class remains the same. To start, we ‘tune in’ using a centering technique to call upon our inner guidance, we then warm up & stretch our bodies using movement & breathwork, this is then followed by the yoga set, deep relaxation & meditation.

Kundalini Yoga is not a religion. It is universal & can be practiced by anyone, you do not need to share a particular belief system. When we practice Kundalini yoga it has the effect of uplifting the spirit, allowing you to experience your true self.

A Kundalini class leaves you with a deep sense of wellbeing & connectedness, a sense that you have nurtured your whole Being – body, mind & soul.

Yoga Nidra

The Divine Sleep

The ability to relax is essential for physical & mental wellbeing. Now more than ever we need effective techniques that can help us to truly relax to restore our inner balance & experience our true nature.

Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation technique which relaxes the mind & body completely, as we move from the ‘thinking mind’, to the ‘feeling body’ & into the ‘being state’. It allows for deep rest, deep healing & deep nourishment.

As a practice, it is almost effortless, as the body already, knows exactly what to do, the true test is to remain awake & aware as you practice yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra is practiced lying down, supported with bolsters & cushions as is appropriate for you, draped with blankets & eyes covered. You are then ready to settle into the practice of Yoga Nidra, where you will be guided to move your awareness to various bodily sensations, emotions & images.

Some of the Benefits of Yoga Nidra:

  • Reduces Stress

  • Reduces Anxiety

  • Improves Sleep

  • Highly Rejuvenating

  • Releases Rigid Patterns in the Muscles

  • Centers Ones Emotional Energies

  • ‘Memorisation’ of the Relaxation Sensation

  • Connects You to Your True Self

“Total harmonious relaxation cures the body. To achieve this there must be a coordination between the three facets of ourselves, body, mind & soul”

– Yogi Bhajan

Radiant Child Yoga

Big souls, little bodies!

Kundalini yoga for kids, is known as Radiant Child Yoga. It is specifically tailored to meet their needs – we do not practice the stronger breath techniques or yoga sets at this age.

Radiant Child Yoga is a perfect match for children’s dynamic energy. The body moves in this practice & the breath moves with it – sometimes deep & slow, sometimes strong & forceful – helping children to calm down & focus their attention inwards. Cultivating mind, body & soul awareness through mindful movement, healing stillness & conscious breathing. Promoting a state of wellbeing on all levels.

A yoga class for kids is fun & engaging. We share & practice the yoga postures through the medium of imaginative storytelling & games. Together we will go on a fun journey. We will explore & practice yoga sounds, songs, guided meditations & relaxations. Through their practice of yoga through play, as well as group & partner work, they will deepen their intuition & awareness to build their self esteem. A child is naturally radiant, aware & full of innocent wisdom. The deeper purpose of teaching children yoga is to help them maintain their inherent wisdom & radiance.

There are many practical benefits of yoga for children, self – empowerment, self- confidence, positive attitude, mindfulness & focus, self calming abilities, empathy, brain-body coordination & much more! It truly is a gift.
